The Abominable Snow Squad (or A.S.S.) is throwing it down lately.  The Transworld Snowboarding site is showing some love to some of the members of our crew. There’s a great picture gallery from the Get Real Crew, they recently embarked on a trip to the home town of 90% of our snow team – Jacksonhole, Wyoming. So Willie – after the Bluebird movie, getting it out there, what’s been going down at the Bluebird camp?

Well, we left our investors. actually they left us. Actually it was a mutual break up. so we are re-structuring.

Define re-structuring?

Um… We are basically starting at the same point as 13 years ago. No money but a giant account list. Wait that didn’t make sense? We are starting over but people know about us now.

We couldn’t have gotten to this point without the investor dudes but its time to go. We have $200 in the bluebird bank account right now, but I’m more stoked on it than ever.

We have been liberated!

Did you find that having other people’s hands in the mix – sort of got in the way?

I get to do things my way now.  I mean I did before but little things like not wasting money on printing 10,000 catalogs. I just got tired of explaining things like why I think its a good idea to not follow the leaders like I just cant follow the trends and when other brands are killing it – being unoriginal then its like “why aren’t we doing that too?” and to me it’s more about making something you’re stoked on than making money.

Look at the dudes at Girl they are clearly enjoying what they do I think the snowboard industry needs to choose the things they bite from skating.

More like business structures less like tight pants.

What Girl does is their own deal – they never seem to stray too far away from who they are.

I like Anti-Hero, The Berrics, those dudes are role models for me. They could be douches for all I know. Snowboarding is just boring – not all of it.

Snowboarding is fun.

Snowboarding is fun but the industry is a fucking joke. There are some real motherfuckers out there but for the most part I’m kind of embarrassed to be a snowboarder. I’m proud to be a snowboarder from Wyoming.

What gets you hyped?

Travis gets me hyped. I know he gets everyone hyped but he’s turning straight dudes gay.

What?

No for real though he’s fucking pushing this shit so far way ahead not just with his riding but with his life. He’s fuckin nuts – the dudes going to start raising falcons.

You been riding?

Yes, a little. Not as much as I’d like to. Broken sled, no pass, mad work but when I go I have more fun than when I was 18, I just suck more.  But ya know when I’m out there its like I need to be shooting the hyped dudes, cuz that’s how im making money I don’t really get paid to much to ride anymore not that thats what motivates me to ride but if someone is killing it, I gotta be shooting it.

What’s all this about the Bluebird Show?

I realized how much Bluebird was going to be about media and nobody had money to help us make another movie so I was thinking how about $1000 instead of 10 and people were into it so we went web. They are basically like a bite on epicly latered. but not as good – I love that show.

Here’s the deal when I was growing up I had no idea what i was all about I had no idea what I was all about so I would get all hyped up on skate interviews and feel like I had a connection with these people I looked up to that’s what made me a fan nowadays its like the super hero robot untouchable behind the goggles i dont feel like kids know the riders like they used to so it’s heavy on the personality and light on the shredding.

Mad props to Liberty, Solid, Iam and all the people supporting the real shit and my dog Dodger and Dan Peterka.

One more thing, everyone walking on eggshells trying not to upset anyone. The whole industry goes to work with the main objective being to not get fired that day – fuck those people, grow some nuts and be yourself.
