This year for christmas my girlfriend’s family were heading up to Colorado for 4 days and I was fortunate enough to go and experience a white xmas. It has been a fun time, lots of gifts exchanged, great food, and well the Lakers vs Cavs set to battle on the 25th. I was pretty hyped for the game cause the Lake show was surging and this could be a good look at this years finals. The family is pretty big so yesterday around 2p.m. grandmas, cousins, uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces start to show up. So it’s the 1st quarter and I’m chatting with one of the kids who kinda skates and a lot is going on and I hear him say “Jeff Garcia has your board on TV.” He said it pretty calm so I kinda brush it off, but then he goes ” No I swear someone is holding your board up!” I ask Joe my ladies brother “Hey can we rewind this like Tivo?” and sure enough boom Gorge Lopez is holding my limited edition Lake Show deck up and kinda waving it around. Needless to say I was super hyped and showed everyone in the house, got a few pics and got back to the game. We are in the mountains so you don’t get much for reception for the cell, but sure enough 15 minutes later I get about 15 text about it, so I guess a lot of friends saw it to. The Lakers got the shit end of the calls by the refs and got there asses handed to them but at least millions of people might have seen my board, well maybe not that many but a lot anyway. Obey bites Liberty?!

I was over at one of my favorite reps, Mark Maza’s “Office” a month or so ago to see some Obey clothing for next year. He went though the most of the line and he says, “Ooohh these are super sick!” It was a pretty simple logo that looked very similar to a logo our own Mr. R. Whyt did years ago. First the guy punk him for the keg and now just straight bitting Robs work! Needless to say someone was pissed, I don’t know, you tell me…Is this a bite?

Austyn Gillette is good at skateboarding.

The title is a simple statement but nothing but the simple truth, Austyn is really good on a skateboard. This young man is has really mastered the fine art of wielding his useless wooden toy. We here at Liberty have had the pleasure of watching young butters develop from just a little skate rat to a skateboarding savant, to use the wordage of one Rick Howard. He’s also stacking sponsors like Quicksilver and with the upcoming Habitat video dropping sometime in 2010 theres pretty much nothing stopping this young Larry David. Here is a clip from Aaron via Sml. Wheels. All I’m saying is switch back side nose blunt slides are really cool people!

Danny, Austyn and the rest of the Quicksilver team in “The Program”

Quicksilver has an amazing skate team and as well have budgets that dwarf most other companies. Combined these 2 things and you have there new little video project titled “The Program”. The fine craftsman down at Quick built a really sick obstacle in the shape of the Quicksilver logo for the dudes to get their shred on. This Clip includes Austyn Gillette, Kyle Leeper, David Clark, Danny Garcia, Reese Forbes, Alex Olsen, Omar Hassan and Justin Brock!

Thrasher is getting ready to drop a full length video that features most of the Converse skateboarding crew called “Prevent this tragedy”. So I was lurking the web and saw a tight clip from the Cons crew ripping the streets across the pond. I gotta say the clip is tight and ray loco might have one of the best front side flips in the biz!

We here at Liberty are huge fans of Mr. Anthony Pappalardo’s skateboarding. He’s true blue, you know what I mean? He also seems to be a very talented craftsman when it comes to wood working. We were fortunate to get one of these tables at the shop from Pops via Cons, good looks JC! Here is a little video of an art show he did. I was peeping The Skateboard Mag’s website like I usually do when I stumbled upon the new Lurker Vision with Animal Chan. It’s a really sick piece they do all the time where the ask one question to a bunch of ams, pros and industry types. This one was titled ” What’s the first skate shop you ever went to?” and these questions were asked at the Van’s downtown showdown, oohh yeah Blind took 2nd place by one point to Foundation who’s TM Mike Sinclar was a judge….I’m not saying anything, I’m just sayin. Any way I was pretty surprised by Matt Bennett’s answer, it’s at 2:13. Good looks Matt!

Jamie Thomas & Black Box Present Crossroads Retail Show.

I ventured to the 2nd of Jamie Thomas’s little venture in the skateboard retail show biz called Crossroads on the first of the 2 days. This show is different from most with a more mellow parking lot vibe, no security asking to see a badge and or ID just to walk in. A big part of the skateboard industry was in attendance and with booths like Deathwish to have what seemed like a stripper pole in the middle of there’s you know this is for skaters by skaters. The 2nd day consisted of more shmoozing and boozing as well as a best trick contest in the skate park. Footage courtesy of A. Brown over at Razor Sharp.

Etnies Win Transworld’s Skate and Create 2 and Danny Garcia at Disneyland

In the 1st annual Transworld Skate and Create our good friend/team rider Colin Kennedy and the DVS crew took 1st place. Now a year later TWS is at it again with the defending champs DVS, Etnies, DC, and Circa are t for the title. This time the Etnies crew has taken the victory from the Podium camp and here is the piece they submitted and I must say it was really good but check it for yourself.
