Quim Cardona and Style and Beardo and Style, and Swishy Pants
Whether it’s Andrew Reynolds’ frontside flip, Dennis Busenitz light footed blazing, or Jack Sabback’s easy popping, it’s always about the style. Whether it’s been Kalis’ swishy cargo pants, Drake Jones’ popped shell toe tongues, or Dylan Rieder’s cuffs, it’s also the issue of style. Yes, the skating is the main subject here, but let’s face it, the gear and a whole bunch of other little things can also say a lot about the skating and the skater. And let’s face it, we pay attention to everything, because we like great skating. But there’s more to it than the gear or any one aspect that can be pinned down from one individual to the next. It’s the end sum of so many things, and that’s why it can’t be faked. We could go on about this for days, but here’s a good example of the kind of natural individual I’m talking about. Check out Quim Cardona. Nobody skated like this, and it would be tough for anyone to skate like this now unless they took the time to internalize his skating and eventually make it their own after a lot of respect and discipline. Definitely rambling now, so here’s the part.
