Obama Sworn In

We interrupt the Best of 08′ post with a special report on the inauguration of our 44th President of the United States of America. Liberty Boardshop would like to send a special high five fist pound shout out to President Barack Obama. It’s good to have a someone down with hoops in office. The future is yet to be determined, but what we can say is that we’re all here and we’re all human – a lot of you reading this might even be American. It’s ok to be proud of our borders – but does this make us any better than any other human? The people of the Free Press say no. We’re all the same and it’s all of our responsibility to make this world a better place for our friends, family, total strangers, and fellow shredders. This is the history of our country and world that we the people are very much a part of. Let’s try and make it better.

“One way or another, we all have to find what best fosters the flowering of our humanity in this contemporary life, and dedicate ourselves to that.” – Joseph Campbell

Here are some excerpts from what was a very epic speech:

…”Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America – they will be met.On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.

On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics….”

“…the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness…”

“…know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman, and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and we are ready to lead once more…”

“…It is the kindness to take in a stranger when the levees break, the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job which sees us through our darkest hours…”

“…So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have travelled…”

Travel on we must. Have a great day people. Peace.
